Nowadays, we are our own greatest disciplinary figure. We treat ourselves like machines and feel disappointed when we fail to be one. The overly optimistic idea that “anything is possible” convinces us that if we don’t have something, it’s because we didn’t fight hard enough.

We start something and are already behind. We wake up and are already late. We measure our worth and identity based on our achievements, and the first thing we ask people is, “What do you do for a living?”

The endless pursuit of efficiency and constant comparison drive us further away from connection and ritual. Things that once required community, interaction, and patience are now always within the reach of a finger.

With this exhibition, I seek to echo the words of Byung-Chul Han and reinterpret his analysis on the importance of rest. For it is in leisure where we share, connect, and truly live.

I invite you to question the authority of our disciplinary mind and allow ourselves to create genuine communities through rest.
